As a member of the classified service of Santa Monica College you are entitled to a variety of benefits, including, but not limited to, the following benefits:

Additionally, you will receive paid medical, dental and vision benefits that is covered by the Santa Monica Community College District. As a classified employee, you have the option to purchase life insurance, to participate in a flexible spending account, to automatically have more income deducted from your net pay for a better retirement, and to join the Santa Monica School Employee Federal Credit Union .  You will automatically have membership in the California State Public Employees Retirement System, and the Social Security (OASDI) contribution will be deducted automatically as enforced by law.

In addition to the benefits associated with your compensation, as a member of the classified service you will also enjoy the protections afforded by our public merit system including protection against arbitrary dismissal.  Furthermore, you will automatically be a member of the union for classified employees.
