Dual Enrollment Program

SMC’s Dual Enrollment Program is an innovative enrichment program that gives high school students the chance to take college courses at their high school campuses. These SMC course sections are offered on the high school campuses to facilitate the opportunity for high school students to be exposed to subject matter that high schools do not have the capacity to offer.

The academic rigor of courses offered through Dual Enrollment is the same as of those offered on the main campus. Therefore, high school students are advised to consult with a counselor to ensure their success.

Students in the program earn both college credit and credit toward high school graduation in courses that enrich their studies and enhance their educational experience.

Dual Enrollment Program classes are college courses offered primarily to high school juniors and seniors. The courses span a wide range of interests, from art, English and business to dance and administration of justice. The program includes training in study skills and time management, and helps make the transition from high school to college easier for students.

Each high school in the program chooses the courses it will offer, based on what types of facilities the school has and what types of courses will enrich its curriculum. SMC waives all enrollment fees for the Dual Enrollment Program, so students only need to cover the costs of their textbooks and supplies.
