This course is designed for students who are interested in broadening their range of drawing options by integrating hands on drawing skills with digital technology. Emphasis will be on exploration of the principles of drawing in their simplest form: marks, lines, shapes, light, perspective, proportion, and spatial relationships. Students will develop drawing projects on the computer, along with traditional hands on drawing techniques and materials, to examine and compare the strengths and compatibility of each medium. An introduction to experimental digital print technologies from concept to final ink-on-paper. Advances the idea of experimental materials (papers & inks) in conjunction with digital print methods and explores and utilizes new and traditional concepts emphasizing individual creative problems. The majority of projects will be completed in class on ink jet printers, and final projects will be output to a large format printer, through an outside service bureau. Students working in all media are welcome to explore a collaborative and interdisciplinary direction to working in an electronic image-making environment.
