The course will acquaint students with the historical developments and the essential principles of many religious traditions, expose them to some of the themes of interest regarding the roles that religions have played throughout history, and focus on the role of religion in the modern world. Case studies from a variety of religious traditions will be presented. Some of the religions considered will be Tribal Religions, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, as well as other contemporary religions.
