This course is intended to prepare the student for elementary algebra. It assumes a thorough knowledge of arithmetic. It covers fractions, decimals, grouping symbols, the order of operations, signed numbers, exponents, the use of formulas and other pre-algebra topics. The emphasis is on concepts essential for success in algebra. Those students who only need to review basic arithmetic should consider Math 81. Students enrolled in this course are required to spend one hour per week in the math lab. *Course credit may not be applied toward satisfaction of Associate In Arts Degree requirements.
