Martin Luther King Day Celebration 2007

Join us for one of Southern California’s largest celebrations of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., honoring his memory and his work toward nonviolence. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Lawrence Edward Carter Sr. A tenured Professor of Religion, College Archivist, and Curator at Morehouse College, Dr. Carter has been the first Dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel since 1979 and is the founder of the Gandhi Institute for Reconciliation at Morehouse. The multiethnic interfaith program includes inspirational readings, music, and presentations of scholarships. Immediately following the program, a Community Involvement Fair (held nearby, at 626 Wilshire Blvd.) offers refreshments and informational displays by a variety of community organizations.
