RUSS 1, Elementary Russian I 5 units
Transfer: UC, CSU • IGETC Foreign Language (required for UC only) • Prerequisite: None.
This course introduces students to basic vocabulary and fundamental structures in the present tense and in five of the six cases (nominative, genitive, dative, accusative and locative). Basic listening and reading comprehension is developed, and students engage in conversations, make oral presentations, and write brief compositions using present tense and the various cases. Significant geographic, historical, literary and contemporary political, social and cultural issues are also introduced and developed.
