What
student has not thought about the nature of the physical world
in which he or she lives? What discipline in the college looks
at this question most directly?
I would
respond—Physics. Physics is the science of matter and energy
and of the interactions between the two. Traditionally the topics
have been grouped into fields such as optics, acoustics, mechanics,
thermodynamics and electromagnetism. Today new fields are constantly
being added from nuclear physics, plasma physics and superconductivity.
Richard
Masada is one of the physics professors who will help you understand
the structure of matter in our universe and the laws of the forces
which are responsible or it.
