“When
you're 17 or 18 you think, 'Oh, my God. I don’t want to study
any more.' But eventually you see that education is the most important
thing to your success.”
He tells
a hilarious story about an American person he met (who, on learning
that Florian Bayol is from France) said, "That’s in
Europe, right? Do you guys have telephones over there?”
“I
had heard that Americans were not so good with their geography.
But telephones? That was just mind-blowing to me,” said Florian
with an exasperated laugh. But fortunately, little of Florian's
SMC experience has been of this nature.
“I’m
finishing up this semester and I’ve been very happy at SMC,
because when I was in high school I hated being in class. But
now I go to school because I want to. It's my plan now to transfer
to the Academy of Entertainment and Technology because I want
to go into the graphic animation business. And from everything
I’ve learned,” he continues, “the Academy is going
to be one of the biggest training centers of its kind in the next
few years. There are so many students who want to go there, and
the demand is huge for people that can do that work.”
A
high demand of Florian’s—as befits any true Frenchman—is
top-quality cuisine when he goes out to dine. When asked if he
misses French cooking, he responded, “Oh yeah. I never look
for a cheap deal when I go out. I only want to treat myself to
the best food.” And he has a gourmet’s appreciation
of the kind of education he’s had over the past two years
as well. “I hate to see people drop out of school. There’s
no need for it at all. If people are willing to work—and
ask for help—SMC will show you how to reach all the way to
the top.”
