“Ten
years from now? I’ll be on the cover of Fortune 500 Magazine
saying, SMC is where it all got started!”
Coming to
SMC, reports Brandon Clark, was a very popular decision with his
family in Agoura. “My folks are really happy about this,
because they’ve seen me go from being a kid who was getting
into trouble to someone who makes responsible decisions,”
he says. “And I’m happy about being here, because there’s
such a lot of vibrant activity on the campus.”
But Brandon
adds that he had some real growing to do when he first got to
SMC. “I was just 17 when I came to college, and I was a little
intimidated. I found that I had a bit of trouble with older people
and socializing,” says Brandon. But through luck—and
asking the right questions—he made his way to a class that
was to prove a real turnaround for him. “I’ve got an
Interpersonal Communication class with Ms. Feinberg, and she’s
a wonderful teacher. She’s there for her students,
and I love going to that class. She makes it exciting every time,”
says Brandon. “We’ve learned how to see everything from
other peoples’ perspectives and how to be a good listener.
Because of this one class," he adds, “I find myself being
a lot more personal. I don’t put up walls any more, and I
understand myself and my relationships a lot better.”
Brandon plans
on transferring to NYU to study Business. “But that’ll
come after all the classes that I’m taking in a specialized
school for digital editing,” he says. “I definitely
want to be in the film and television industry, but I’m also
attracted to fashion. I feel I’ve got a lot of options and
the time to figure it all out. But I do want to end up with my
own company someday. That’s my dream.”
