SCHOLARS TRANSFER NOTES
• Take your Scholars classes as soon as possible so that you can be certified when it is time to apply. In some cases, students were not certified because they were one or two classes short at the time of application.
• Being Scholars certified could make the difference between being admitted and not being admitted to UCLA, particularly if your GPA is between 3.0-3.5. We are offering more classes than ever before; take advantage of this opportunity to fully participate in a great program with an outstanding transfer record.
• 60 units are the minimum number of units required for transfer to the University of California. These units must be completed by the end of the Spring semester prior to transferring for most students.
• Although IGETC is not an admissions requirement, completion of IGETC prior to transfer will result in more favorable admission consideration.
• “Undecided” students will not be considered for transfer admission. Students must select a major and complete the prep for that major.
• Students may not transfer as sophomores to the University of California. Generally, the only schools that admit at the sophomore level are private institutions.
• Pre-Med, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Dental, and Pre-Law are not transfer majors. They are plans for a course of study leading to professional schools. These students must select a major and complete the preparation courses for that major in order to receive a B.A. or B.S. degree.IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING AA DEGREE AND IGETC PETITIONS:
Students must make an appointment with a scholars counselor to evaluate their IGETC and AA degree petitions. Please bring in any official transcripts (from high school or other universities attended) and original AP score reports to the Scholars Office if you have not already done so. Students must bring their petitions to the Admissions office by the deadlines listed below.
