The popular Overseas Program at Santa Monica College offers short-term, full-credit travel and study opportunities during spring break and summer. All Overseas Program courses are taught by Santa Monica College instructors and are tailored to take the fullest advantage of available resources on location.

Darryl-Keith OgataSanta Monica College is a member of the College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS). Through CCIS, SMC students can participate in 37 different overseas programs in 22 countries. The program countries currently offered include:

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Most programs require a minimum of a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and a minimum age of 18 years old. Most programs do not require previous knowledge of a foreign language.
FINANCIAL AID: Financial aid is applicable to these programs. Please consult the Financial Aid Office in PE 148 for forms and information. The phone number for the Financial Aid Office is: (310) 434-4343.
HOUSING: Housing varies by program, some programs place students with families in "home-stays." Other programs place students in college housing, which usually consists of apartments or dormitories.
COST: Costs vary with individual programs. Please contact the SMC Office of Overseas Programs for prices.
CREDITS: All SMC Overseas Programs, earn SMC credit. Generally students take a minimum of 12 and maximum of 18 credits per semester overseas.
DURATION OF PROGRAMS:. Programs are offered in the fall, spring, and summer. The semester schedule for these programs is roughly equivalent to the SMC semester calendar Most countries have programs during both fall and spring. About half of the countries offer Summer programs. Summer programs usually run June - July, or July - August.
INTERNSHIPS:. Countries that offer internships are: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ecuador, England, Israel, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Russia, and Scotland. In general, these are NOT paid positions.
SHORT TERM STUDY TOURS: These programs are led by SMC professors. Please contact the professor directly for details on prices, admissions, and program content.
