…AND THE WORLD GOES AWAY

Allan Hurwit

Soothing peaceful melody of rhythmically rolling

grey-green waves topped by foamy white froth

Late afternoon sun glints creating a yellow-gold pathway

Sailingto the distant horizon

Wind singing its constant siren song saying

“Come with me - let us adventure together -

I will help you if you let me”

Sails straining - pulling - embracing the wind - saying,

“Take me - I am yours”

Boat heeling over - gliding across the ever-moving water

seeking a balance between the wind’s driving force

and the water’s heavy liquid resistance

Peace stealing over me

Covering me like a gossamer mantle of finely woven silk
