My ma is my mapa

Noraney Ocampo

Mi ma es mi mapa
Porque es mi ma y mi pa
At the same time.
Al mismo tienpo
She's been my dad
As well as my mom.

She's been my dad, mi pa,
Because she's worked
To bring food to the table.
She's been my mom, mi ma,
Because she's cooked
And serve us food at the table.

She's been mi pa, my dad,
Because she's worked
To have a house for us to live in.
She's been mi ma, my mom
Because she's kept
Our home nice and clean.

Ella es mi mapa
She's been my map:
My guide through life.
She's taught me to be responsible,
Loyal and hardworking.
But most importantly,
She's been my mapa
Because she's taught me to be
An independent woman.

Although she's been my role model
I don't depend on her because
She's taught me not to depend on anyone but on myself.
