Passion Redefined

Sandra E. Block

Passion lies buried
Beneath the mountains
of laundry
Beneath the pile
of dishes
Beneath the layer
of dust
Beneath the constant struggle
for survival.

Only not so buried
Just redefined and subdued
Love's passion turns to Life's passion
I sleep with books
and papers and pens
And the rhythmic sound
of my children breathing.
