Featured Artist:  Masami Teraoka

Born in Japan and trained in the United States, Masami Teraoka uses his cross-cultural experience as the basis for insightful, witty observations of the intersection of Japanese tradition and American commerce.  Depicting icons of Western culture, such as the hamburger at the geisha's feet in McDonald's Hamburgers Invading Japan/Chochin-Me, in the style of 19th-century ukiyo-e woodblock prints creates an incisive yet beautiful comment on the unplanned side effects of the global culture.
