“Fragile Flesh” explores identity through memory, this time using the body, looking at the stories told by our scars. This series includes triptychs with the following elements: a painting of a close-up of the scar; a painting with the story of how the person got the scar, that’s thickly painted, then written with graphite, sometimes piercing the paint and creating its own wounds/scars; and a mixed-media painting inspired by the object that caused the scar. |
