The Santa Monica College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is committed to providing a menu of services to help assure the success of local new businesses and entrepreneurs. Through a series of short-term workshops, the SBDC enhances the region's business climate as well as the vitality of the Los Angeles County region.

As the Westside service center, under the guidelines of the Southern California Network, the SMC SBDC focuses its efforts on enhancing workforce capacities and developing efficient business operations at the small business level. Tips on business practices are provided so that the probability of business success is increased.

The center includes the support from a variety of partners that contribute resources toward the success of the project. Under the spirit of collaboration, each partner helps to meet the needs of all participating individuals and assists the SMC center in serving the business community.

Some of the positive outcomes of the project include an expanded knowledge of business processes, a wider awareness of governmental procurement practices, expanded use of technology to track inventory and make sales using the Internet, and a better understanding of legislative requirements - as they relate to workforce compliance.
