Regional, Sector-Based Initiative
The California Community College System continues to play a proactive role in providing the leadership in coordinating and implementing statewide workforce development programs. The System strives to explore all resources that might be leveraged in order to support demand-driven State workforce development efforts. As a result of extensive research, key representatives of the System have addressed the needs of the expanding logistics industry by supporting sector-based consortiums that provide the highest quality of training and employment services to both incumbent and new employees.
The CaL-WEST project is a regional, sector-based initiative that is comprised of community colleges, businesses, and State Economic & Workforce Development representatives. As part of its knowledge-sharing activities, an array of training and support services that focus on the needs of the emerging logistics industry has been developed and is continually in refinement in order to better serve its customers. Through positive collaboration, the project continues to serve people and stakeholders interested in the field of logistics and truly represents the next level in workforce development solutions.
