In the past, the Retail Collaboration economic development grant provided funding for skills upgrade training for the employees of 5 major shopping centers, including Via Marina Marketplace, Santa Monica Place Shopping Center, Century City Shopping Center, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza and Fox Hills Mall. Customized training classes included Customer Service, Team Building, Conflict Resolution, Food Safety Certification (for shopping center food court restaurants), First Aid and CPR, English and Spanish Language Skill and Microsoft Office Skills.
