The Santa Monica College Office of Workforce and Economic Development is currently invovled with various initiatives that focus on the economic and revitalization of the West Los Angeles area.

The Westside Economic Development Collaborative is the first organization to serve the Westside as a regional economic development corporation. The Westside EDC will function as an information gatherer and resource center, as well as a forum, through bringing business, government, and residents together to address common issues affecting the Westside region. Economic Diversity, Transportation, Housing, Workforce Training and Retraining, Lifelong Learning, Tourism, and Embracing Diversity are among the issues the Westside EDC will address. Its Mission truly reflects the intent of the Westside Economic Development Collaborative's founders: "Business, government, and residents working together to strengthen the economic vitality of the Westside Community." Coupled with its Vision Statement, "Economic prosperity through cooperation and collaboration," the Westside EDC is at the beginning of a productive and meaningful adventure.

Our office is committed to utilizing our resources for the benefit of the community. We intend to establish Santa Monica College as a key point of access for employment and workforce training. We strive to serve all residents and local businesses of the West Los Angeles area.
