Dear Fellow GAB members,
We’re so glad to have you as a member of the General Advisory Board for Santa Monica
College! As you know, the GAB was established to connect the college with the community
that it is a part of – including our local neighbors, organizations, and businesses.
Led by Dr. Kiersten Elliott, Dean of Community & Academic Relations and her team,
the GAB provides members with in-depth information on programs, services, and new
developments at SMC, along with opportunities to meet and interact with SMC leaders,
staff, and students, plus receive invitations to special events. It's a friendly space
to share ideas and network with other education supporters who live and work in the
local area. And if you’re looking for ways to provide feedback, volunteer, find out
about classes or get involved with the college, GAB is a great resource for that.
We’ve lived and learned through the pandemic, and the GAB is coming back even stronger.
This year, you can attend the quarterly meetings that take place on Thursdays from
8:00 - 9:30 a.m., either in person – where you can enjoy camaraderie and a continental
breakfast on SMC’s beautiful campus -- or via Zoom from the comfort of your computer.
These are both challenging and exciting times for higher education, and Santa Monica
College is at the forefront of some of the most innovative and promising developments
happening anywhere.
