The Writing & Humanities Tutoring Center (WHTC), located in Drescher Hall 313, offers writing support services to all SMC students in all subject areas. Our goal is to help students become more confident, self-directed, and informed writers so that they can achieve greater academic and professional success. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all tutoring takes place remotely.
Subjects for which tutoring is available in the WHTC:
- Logic (Philosophy 7 and 9)
- Political Science
Monday-Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Writing assistance is offered on an appointment basis. Students may schedule synchronous virtual sessions to see and talk to tutors and to upload an essay onto a whiteboard. Alternatively, students may schedule asynchronous essay consultation appointments and await a tutor's comments about the essay's content and organization.
To schedule a tutoring appointment, log in to your Corsair Connect and select from the left-hand margin the link for Tutoring Appointments, as shown below.
Once you are on the Schedule page, scroll down the menu for the English/Writing or the Econ/History/Poli Sci schedule.
Additionally, students in any SMC English course may receive online tutoring assistance by enrolling in English 1E.
