Summer Research – Early Identification Program (SR-EIP) Leadership Alliance Institution*
Gain 8 to 10 weeks of closely mentored research experience in the life and physical
sciences, social and behavioral sciences and the humanities at any one of the 20 participating
research institutions across the country; work under the guidance of a faculty/research
mentor; Gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and
scientific experimentation; present at the Leadership Alliance National Symposium;

U.S. citizen or permanent resident in possession of an alien registration receipt
card (I-551) or other legal document of such status at the time of application. F-1
students and those seeking asylum or refugee status are not eligible
3.0 GPA or higher
Demonstrate a committed interest to pursue graduate study towards a PhD or MD-PhD.
This program is not designed for students pursuing training in careers in the practice
of law, business administration, clinical medicine, clinical psychology or the allied
health professions
Currently enrolled and completed at least 2 semesters of undergraduate education before
the start of the summer program and obtaining a bachelor’s degree
