ECE Interview Day


Education/ECE Interview Day - May 30, 2019

Interview Day is a free event, open to all SMC students interested in a career in Education/Early Childhood Education. Representatives from various schools and organizations will be on-campus to conduct employment interviews. This is the perfect opportunity to secure a part-time, full-time or limited contract job before the end of the semester.  

In HireSMC, students will be able to upload their resumes, apply for positions offering on-campus interviews from May 10 to May 24 and if selected, schedule interview times with employers for interviews held on May 30. 

To view, research and apply for Education/ECE Interview Day jobs, go to HireSMC and search for "On-Campus Interviewing Jobs." Instructions are provided below.

Requirements to Participate in Interview Day  (Due by May 23, 2019)

  1. You must create a HireSMC  account
  2. Upload your resume to HireSMC
  3. Review and apply for jobs offering on-campus interviews
  4. Be selected for an interview

It is in your best interest to apply early as interviews are not guaranteed and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. You may view positions as early as May 3 and apply for a position as early as May 10. 

Creating a HireSMC Account

  1. Go to

Uploading Your Resume to HireSMC

  1. View Resume Resource for Education and ECE majors

  4. Click the link "Dashboard" located on the top left side of your screen.

  5. Click "My Resume" located in the table on the top left side of your screen. 

  6. Select the "Choose File" button. This opens a new window to upload a file from your computer. The following file types are accepted: .pdf, .doc, .docx, and .rtf.

  7. After you selecting the file you wish to upload from your computer, click the blue button "Upload Your Resume."

  8. Under the third box, labeled "Resume Authorization," click the fourth button labeled "I authorize my resume to be referred to prospective employers by the Career Services Center at my school."  By choosing this option, you select which employers have access to your resume and private contact information but still allow for the Career Services Center to assist you if you need any help.

  9. Click the blue button "Save Authorizations."



Apply for Jobs Offering On Campus Interviews 

  1. Click "Dashboard" located on the top left side of your screen.

  2. Click "Search-My School's Jobs" located on the top left side of your screen.

  3. Click "Advanced Search" located on the top right side of your screen.

  4. Under the Advanced Search options under Display, select the button labeled "On-Campus Interviewing Jobs."

  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the Advanced Search options box and click the blue icon labeled "Begin Search."

  6. Review the jobs and employers provided.

  7. For jobs you are interested in applying to, make sure your resume is uploaded into HireSMC and apply for each job individually.  


Schedule Interview Times/Interview Process

  1. If you are selected for an on-campus interview or interviews for May 30, 2019, you will receive an email notification. Make sure to check your email inbox regularly. The interview email notification will be sent to the email that you provided during the HireSMC registration process. In the email, you will receive instructions on how to sign up for an interview time.

  2. You may also view any notifications to schedule an interview by clicking "Dashboard," followed by "Check OCI Status."

  3. If you have been invited to an interview, you will see pending notifications under "Notifications to Schedule an Interview."

  4. To schedule an interview, select "View" under the company name.

  5. Select from one of the available time slots and click "Schedule Interview."

View Scheduled Interview Times

  3. Click "Check OCI Status" located in the table on the bottom left side of your screen

  4. View an already scheduled interview with an employer, under "Scheduled Interviews."

Resume  Review  Request (Due by April 23)

If you are an Education/ECE student interested in having your resume reviewed for Interview Day, upload your resume by April 23 to the following link Resume Review Application. The only formats accepted are doc, docx or pdf.  Note your resume will be reviewed one time.  If you need further assistance after receiving your first review, please contact the Career Services Center at 310-434-4337 to schedule an appointment to have your resume reviewed by one of the career counselors.
