Who
May Be Admitted
You may enroll
at Santa Monica College if you:
- Have graduated
from high school, -or-
- Are 18 years
of age or older, -or-
- Are 16 years
or age or older and submit your "Student Score Report"
for passing the California High School Proficiency examination.
Who
Must File An Application
- If you have
never attended Santa Monica College.
- If you have
not attended Santa Monica College for one or more semesters.
- Continuing
students do not have to apply for admission.
How
to Apply for Admission
International
Students: please apply through our International
Education Center.

Students
taking courses leading to degrees or certificates,
or wish to transfer to a four-year college or university.
- File
an application for
Admissions
- Schedule
time for assessments.
Assessment tests are required to enroll in English
or Math Courses unless you meet the exemption
criteria.
- Arrange
for transcripts of high school and previous college
work
- Attend
Orientation.
Admissions
Office will mail you an "Orientation and Academic
Counseling Appointment Card." On the
date of your appointment, bring along any materials
requested to the place indicated on your card.
After your orientation and counseling sessions,
you will be able to proceed with your enrollment.

Matriculant |
Students
who have an Associate in Arts or higher degree or
plan to maintain or improve job skills.
- File
an application for
Admissions
- See
a counselor if you have questions.
- Schedule
time for assessments
Assessment tests are required to enroll in English
or Math Courses unless you meet the exemption
criteria.
- Attend
an orientation
session if you are unfamiliar with SMC.
You
will not be required to attend orientation.
But if you would like to attend, please see the
list of available dates.
Counselors are available to answer your questions
on a drop-in basis from:
Mon-Tue:
8am - 8pm
Wed:
10am - 8pm
Thu: 8am - 8pm
Fri: 8am - 4pm

Disqualified
Students
If you have been
disqualified at any college, you must complete "Petition for
Readmission"
in addition to your application.
The decision on
your readmission will be sent to you by mail or email, along with
any further instructions.
Veterans
If you are eligible
for veterans' educational benefits, please see the veterans' clerk
in the Admissions Office after completing the application process.
Students
with Disabilities
If you wish to
take advantage of the special counseling and admissions services provided
through the Center for Students with Disabilities, call (310) 434-4265
