Transfer Services

In-Person Drop-In sessions are available and allow students to meet with a counselor in person on a first come, first served basis. Please note that we are limiting in person visits to one person per counseling session due to covid protocol. Students with disabilities who require assistance, students who require an interpreter and underage students will be allowed one additional person in the counseling session with them.

In Person Covid Protocols: Students arriving in person for an In-Person Drop-In Session must first check in at the kiosk outside of the Student Services Center at the West Entrance facing campus. Everyone entering the building must wear a surgical, KN95 or N95 mask and keep it on the entire time that they are inside the Student Services Center.

Due to high student demand, in-person and remote counseling sign-up may close intermittently throughout the day.

For faster counseling service, students enrolled in special programs are encouraged to seek counseling in the other programs before attempting to see a counselor in GCTS.

Remote Counseling by Phone through Qless

QLESS- Remote Drop-In Hours

CRITICAL- PLEASE READ:
The QLess queue will close automatically if the wait time exceeds 2-3 hours or the number of available counselors, but you can periodically try again to access the QLess queue. Depending on the current student wait time, we may not be able to reopen for the day. Please have your SMC student ID number, a pen, and paper ready for your callback.

Make sure cell phone settings are adjusted to receive a call from an unknown or "no caller ID" number. Otherwise, the call goes to voicemail.

Once you have signed in:

Look for Santa Monica College Counseling Callback.
We'll send you a text message to alert you when we are ready.
The counselor will call you at the number provided when it's your turn to be seen.

This workshop will cover the basics of the California community college transfer process. We will particularly focus on transfer to the UC and CSU systems. Topics will include: transfer requirements, types of degrees available, necessary planning, and SMC programs and resources.
