District-Paid Life AD&D Insurance

Santa Monica Community College District offers District-Paid Group Life and AD&D Insurance to employees administered through Sun Life Financial. Following employee groups are eligible for the coverage:

  • Classified Employee (20+ hrs./wk.)
  • Classified Managers
  • Confidential Employees
  • Project Manager (20+ hrs./wk.)
  • Full-time Faculty
  • Academic Administrator
  • Board of Trustees
  • Personnel Commissioners
  • Police Officers

Note: Temporary Employees & Adjunct Faculty are not eligible for district-paid life insurance.

Type of Policy Life Benefit Amount: AD&D Benefit Amount:
Employee Only Coverage $50,000 $50,000

Employees will need to designate a beneficiary for this policy. The Beneficiary Designation From should be returned to the Office of Human Resources.

The District is currently not accepting enrollment with TransAmerica. TransAmerica offers voluntary life insurance with a long-term care rider. Employees who currently have policies are responsible for paying premiums directly to TransAmerica. For more information contact Transamerica directly.
