Mr. Achorn joined the Emeritus faculty in 1997.  An actor, director and teacher, he studied commedia dell'Arte under the late Carlo Mazzone-Clementi, and helped found the noted Dell’Arte School in Humboldt County.  He has taught acting and comedy/improv at The University of Redlands, UCLA, USC, UCSD, UCR, UCSC and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. 
He has a degree in Literature cum laude from Claremont McKenna College, studied Linguistics at the University of Hawaii, Hilo, where he earned a TESL Certification.  He has taught English both as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines and has worked with students from the ages of 6 -102!  He specializes in Renaissance Arts, Shakespeare and American Literature, and comedy in all its forms.
He helped establish the Vidiots Foundation (preserving videos for research), and is an emeritus member of the Antaeus Theatre Company.
