Dr. Heather Bennett earned a B.A. in history, magna cum laude from UC Berkeley and then a Ph.D. in history from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the departmental representative for the Faculty Association and a member of the Global Citizenship Committee. Dr. Bennett's expertise includes modern European social and political history, European diplomacy, and political culture in the era of mass politics. At SMC, she teaches courses on Western and European History and the history of Great Britain and its empire. Dr. Bennett has lead study abroad programs in Copenhagen and Paris with new programs planned for the future. As a former SMC student herself, Dr. Bennett has a personal understanding of some of the experiences of her students, their dreams, and what it takes to achieve them.
