Dr. Joy Fritschle is a Geography professor in the Earth Sciences Department. Her areas of expertise include biogeography, environmental conservation, and sustainable development, with special interests in urban forestry, coast redwood forests, and national parks. She teaches courses in Physical Geography and Environmental Studies, and recently authored an OER textbook (People, Place, and Planet: An Introduction to Environmental Studies and Environmental Geography) with contributions by SMC Earth Sciences colleagues Victoria Charles and Gillian Grebler.
