Jim Keeshen graduated from the UCLA Animation Program, started his own animation company, working as a story consultant, storyboard artist and animator, producing TV commercials and freelancing on TV series and features. He went on to teach animation and storyboard classes as an adjunct at SMC. 

Because of his connections to the Entertainment Industry SMC asked Keeshen to help start the Entertainment Technology Program in the late 1990's. Keeshen wrote and taught many of the classes and hired teachers from the industry. For his work he was made a full-time professor and chairperson for the ET Program at the CMD.

Besides teaching Keeshen continues to work in the animation field and has won a number of Best Animation awards for his shorts and one feature. Keeshen is currently producing an animated feature on THE DAY OF THE DEAD, an animated series, DANGERWORLD, and an animated short INCA MYTHOLOGY.
