Kayli has spent nearly two decades at SMC supporting students as readers, writers, and critical thinkers. Before coming to SMC, she taught high school English and served as a Teaching Fellow at Boston College, where she taught first-year writing while studying literature and composition pedagogy. At SMC, Kayli has taken on leadership roles focused on equity, professional learning, and student success. She co-founded the English Department's Professional Learning Community, led department workshops, served as an Equity Coach for Equitizing Gateway Classes, and most recently served as Chief Faculty Lead and Co-Creator of the SMC Faculty Internship Program. She currently serves on the Student Judicial Affairs Committee and as an Academic Senate representative for the English Department.
Kayli has been recognized with a Mellon Faculty Fellowship through UCLA's Humanities Division and has served as a Visiting Fellow in Assessment with the College Board. She is currently completing her EdD in Educational Leadership and Innovation, with research interests in corequisite education, culturally responsive pedagogy, and how colleges can better support faculty through meaningful collaboration and professional development.
When she's not teaching or studying, Kayli loves hiking and traveling — preferably alongside her husband and three kids.
