Dr. Poy Sakjirapapong Yamada

Dr. Poy Sakjirapapong Yamada is a tenured nursing faculty member at Santa Monica College with over 22 years of clinical nursing experience and more than 16 years of teaching experience. Having completed her master's education in a fully online program and her doctoral education in a hybrid format, Dr. Yamada brings firsthand experience with diverse learning modalities and applies those insights to design accessible, engaging courses. As the Accessibility/Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Faculty Ambassador for the 2026–2027 academic year, she is passionate about creating inclusive, equitable learning environments that support student success. As an immigrant and former multilingual learner, Dr. Yamada is committed to reducing barriers to learning and fostering a sense of belonging where all students can thrive.
