Meet the staff who serve students at Santa Monica College!
Devina Sheppherd is a Student Services Clerk in the Admissions Records Office who helps new and continuing students with their enrollment process in relation to residency, applying and enrolling, and more.
She is also a fellow community college student, with two associate degrees in Business Administration and Liberal Arts – Arts Humanities.
While working at SMC, Devina is also currently attending California State University, Los Angeles to obtain a B.S. in Business Administration.
She has worked at SMC for 3.6 years and has been a part of the Classified Professional Development Committee. Currently, she has invested time in the District Planning and Advisory Council – Human Resources Committee.
Devina is a charismatic, loyal, observant and approachable person, She has been told she is the life of the party, even though she doesn't believe it one bit, and is goofy as all get-out.
What brought you to SMC?
I have always had a fondness for Santa Monica because of the atmosphere and environment. After visiting SMC, I realized that this college would be a good fit for me. As a temporary worker in the library, I forged relationships that made me want to stay at SMC
How is your commute?
Once I have my wonderful cup of coffee in hand, it takes me roughly about 15-20 minutes to get to work
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place is to be outside on a warm day. So I tend to enjoy my lunch hour outside with my close colleagues because I am able to enjoy SMC's beautiful scenery.
What is your vacation spot, or place to visit?
I enjoy staying in the log cabins at Big Bear or drinking wine and picnicking in Temecula,
but I am extremely looking forward to visiting South Korea and Japan! However, I will
sincerely enjoy any place with great company
What is most rewarding about working at SMC?
The people I work with and the relationships that I have been able to establish. Also, I enjoy the various interactions with the students I assist daily.
If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?
A positive and transparent person like Dr. Jeffery.
