    Mariamawit's Journey

    Your current position/company:

    Software Engineer at Nextdoor

How was your time as a Peer Mentor?

It's a beautiful experience. I got to interact with other students and be the guide I wish I had when I was once in their shoes. It was also a very good way to refresh and solidify my own knowledge as well. It challenged me to get outside of my comfort zone and discover, learn, and grow.

Something you loved about being part of the STEM program:

It is crazy how something as simple as joining a program can ultimately impact your life and change your future. I was able to secure internship opportunities, build a strong support group, gain academic and career advisors & mentors, receive scholarships and other financial support, network with alumni and other STEM students from other universities– the opportunities are endless.

Any advice you have for current STEMies:

Start researching and planning your transfer and even your post-graduation.

    A fun fact about you:

My ultimate tried hobbies are cooking, eating, and traveling.
