Then, join Peer on his daring journey through enchanted forests and mystical lands in Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 and No. 2 by Grieg. Next, enjoy Porgy and Bess: Symphonic Picture by George Gershwin, a soulful and colorful orchestral journey through one of America’s most iconic operas. The performance concludes with Beethoven’s legendary Symphony No. 5—a dramatic and powerful masterpiece that continues to inspire. Mercedes Juan Musotto, Conductor, and Janelle DeStefano, Director. SMC Opera Theatre and the SMC Symphony Orchestra present a fully-staged production of Mozart’s wonderful comedy The Marriage of Figaro. The opera tells the story of servants Figaro and Susanna, who join forces with the Countess to get her philandering Count to stop making passes at Susanna and re-experience the beauty of his own wife. Known for its witty dialogue, beautiful music, and exploration of social dynamics between classes, The Marriage of Figaro is a treasured favorite in the world of opera. Performed in Italian with English supertitles.
