Help support SMC dancers going to NYC
Dance NYC is a Travel Study Tour, giving our students a one-week immersion in the New York City dance scene. Students take master classes at prestigious training institutions including Gibney Dance, Alvin Ailey, and New York City Center, and visit resource centers such as the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Performances opportunities include visits to American Ballet Theater, the Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Broadway. Students will also have the opportunity to visit university transfer sites and meet with faculty and students from institutions including SUNY, Marymount Manhattan, Barnard, Adelphi, and Pace. Students will also connect with alumni from SMC that now reside in NYC.
Consider donating to sponsor our students in this endeavor by December 31st! All donations go directly to the students to help cover program fees and are tax deductible.

Company-in-Residence: Ballet Folklorico Flor de Mayo
The SMC Dance Department is proud to announce our new Company in Residence, Ballet Folklorico Flor de Mayo (BFFM). Under the artistic direction of Raquel Ramirez, BFFM will be in residence for the 2023-24 academic year. The residency will provide SMC dancers with the opportunity to take Company class, observe a professional dance company in the creative/rehearsal process, and train with members of BFFM through master classes and workshops. Artistic Director Raquel Ramirez will also create new work for the dance department’s Global Motion World Dance Company, and Ballet Folklorico Flor de Mayo will perform with our students at the Broad Stage.
