Event Description
Join leaders from higher education, industry, research institutions, and community
organizations for a two-day convening dedicated to shaping California’s Blue Economy
and Climate Action workforce of the future. The Blue Economy and Climate Action Pathways
(BECAP) Summit brings together statewide partners to accelerate innovation, expand
career pathways, and build the interdisciplinary ecosystems needed for a resilient,
sustainable coastal future.
This year’s Summit begins with an immersive pre-summit experience at AltaSea at the
Port of Los Angeles, one of the world’s most iconic hubs for ocean innovation. Participants
will engage in a guided tour, meet blue-tech innovators, and connect with partners
advancing regenerative aquaculture, clean marine energy, robotics, conservation, and
the broader sustainable ocean economy.
The full-day summit at Los Angeles Harbor College will feature keynote speakers, a
fireside chat, a leadership panel, and breakout sessions aligned with the four BECAP
consortia pillars, Regenerative Aquaculture & Aquaponics, Blue Technology & Robotics,
Clean Marine Renewable Energy, and Ecosystem Conservation & Restoration, alongside
cross-sector workforce development strategies designed to strengthen California’s
future workforce in the Deep Blue Decade.

Call for Proposals
The BECAP Summit will feature breakout sessions that highlight innovative practices,
partnerships, and pathways advancing California’s Blue Economy. We invite faculty,
practitioners, researchers, industry partners, and community-based organizations to
submit proposals that center industry engagement, faculty and curriculum development, and student success.
Please note that while the BECAP convening includes a pre-summit AltaSea tour and
reception on March 24, this Call for Proposals is specifically for breakout sessions presented at the March
25 Summit.
