Santa Monica College to Stage AVENUE Q

December 1-10

SANTA MONICA, CA — The Santa Monica College (SMC) Theatre Arts Department will perform “Avenue Q” Dec. 1-10 in the Theatre Arts Main Stage on the main SMC campus, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.

With music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, and based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, “Avenue Q” is a Tony Award–winning musical comedy about a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York with big dreams and little money. The play, which comes complete with puppets and creatures galore, is an invitation to meet Princeton, Trekkie Monster, and their neighbors on Avenue Q, the only street the grad can afford to live on. But this is not a street fit for Public Television.

The SMC production is directed by Terrin Adair-Lynch.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10. Performances subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Advance (pre-sale) tickets, which range from $18 to $20 ($15 for SMC students, staff, and faculty) plus a modest service charge, can be purchased online at smc.edu/tickets at any time, or by calling 310-434-3005 Monday through Friday. Tickets purchased on performance weekends at the Events Box Office (at the Theatre Arts building) are $3 higher. Parking is free, and information on parking, transportation, and directions can be found at smc.edu/transportation.

With mask requirements subject to change, guests should visit smc.edu/coronavirus for up-to-date details before heading to the performance.

The production is licensed by Music Theatre International (MTI) (MTIshows.com).

“Avenue Q” has not been authorized or approved by the Jim Henson Company or Sesame Workshop, which have no responsibility for its content.
