It is important to get an early start in preparing for your academic future. We've put together a simple guide for you to follow so you can stay ahead.

Interested in taking college classes while still in high school? After applying to SMC, you will also need to apply to the High School Concurrent Enrollment (HSCE) Program in order to take classes for FREE as a high school student.

About the HSCE Program

The High School Concurrent Enrollment program at Santa Monica College allows eligible students to enroll in college courses while attending high school and simultaneously earn college credit. Participating students not only get a “taste” of college but also get a head start on their college career. Students complete assignments in the same manner as regularly admitted students and are given a final grade that is posted on their SMC official college transcript.

Next Steps Workshops

This session is for students who have submitted an application to SMC and need support or have questions about what comes next. For instance, creating your SMC Account, navigating Corsair Connect (SMC student portal), online orientation, & more.

Educational Planning Workshops

This session is for students who have completed their Next Steps (Activated their SMC Account & Online Orientation) and now need support choosing their classes.

Career Exploration Workshops

This session is for students who are exploring potential majors or career paths and want guidance in identifying their interests, strengths, and values. Students will learn how to connect their interests to academic programs and career options, and leave with practical tools to support informed decision-making.

Wednesday, February 25, 2026, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Financial Aid Open Lab

This session is for students who need step-by-step guidance on completing the FAFSA or CADAA application. Financial aid professionals will be available to answer questions and help students and parents complete their financial aid applications. Students and parents are free to stop by and leave at any point during the open lab session once they have received the help they need.
