Malibu Campus Classes

Santa Monica College offers four types of classes at its new three-acre Malibu Campus, located at 23555 Civic Center Way, Malibu, approximately 15 miles from SMC's main campus. Visit smc.edu/malibu to learn more.

  • Credit – Credit classes can be used to earn an Associate degree or transfer to a four-year college or university.
    To enroll in credit classes, you can apply for admission at smc.edu/apply. You must be 18 years old or a high school graduate.

  • Noncredit – Noncredit classes are part of a flexible tuition-free program that offers short-term certificates that can assist you in entering the workforce or continuing your education. We also offer free, open-entry noncredit ESL and citizenship classes.

  • Emeritus – The Emeritus Program is a noncredit, free, lifelong learning program offering classes designed for older adults. To enroll, see smc.edu/emeritus for details.

  • Community Education – Community Education is a not-for-credit, fee-based program focused on promoting personal enrichment and professional development. For more information and to enroll in a Community Education class, please go to commed.smc.edu.

General Education Classes

You can build your schedule through the variety of formats we offer such as weekend and short-term classes.

Noncredit Career Development and College Preparation

SMC offers free noncredit courses and certificate programs for career development and college preparation for adults 18 and over. Whether you are interested in learning new skills or ready to jumpstart a new career, noncredit courses and programs can help you reach your goals. Noncredit Certificates of Completion and Certificates of Competency programs are designed to help prepare you for college credit courses or to develop skills to enter the workforce. Noncredit certificates are not applicable toward credit certificates or an Associate degree.

Courses for Special Programs
