Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a free academic support program that helps you succeed in some of Santa Monica College's most challenging courses.
If your class offers SI, you can attend weekly study sessions led by a student who
has already been successful in the course.
Unlike tutoring, SI isn't about getting answers to homework questions or one-on-one instruction. Instead, SI sessions are interactive group study sessions where you'll reinforce course concepts, prepare for quizzes and exams, and learn study strategies that can help you succeed throughout the semester. You'll work with classmates to solve problems, discuss ideas, and strengthen your understanding of the material.
Why should I attend SI?
- Better understand challenging course concepts.
- Prepare for quizzes and exams through guided practice.
- Learn study strategies that improve long-term success.
- Study with classmates in a collaborative environment.
- Gain extra practice outside of class.
- Build confidence in your course material.
- It's completely free!
Ready to Get Started?
Find the SI schedule for your course and drop into a session. You do not have to sign up. Whether you're looking for extra practice, a better way to study, or a community of classmates learning together, SI is here to help you succeed.
