Community Partner Minimum Requirements

 

Once your organization has determined it has the capacity to host our students, the next step is to review whether your organization possesses the preliminary requirements to initiate an applied and service-learning partnership with Santa Monica College. Please note the following conditions are required and only are used to initiate a partnership with the Career Services Center at Santa Monica College. It does not guarantee that once your organization submits the Community-Based Application/Agreement form that your organization will receive students.

  • Designate one individual at your organization to serve as a community partner supervisor.

  • Offer an orientation for our students and/or any other training/materials that are needed for students to carry out their duties.

  • Offer opportunities for students assigned to complete at least 20 hours of assistance and that commensurate with their educational background and/or para-professional potential during either the SMC fall or spring semesters. Opportunities are not offered during the winter and summer terms.

  • Maintain a sign-in/sign-out system used to verify days, hours, and type of duties completed by a student.

  • Serve any individual regardless of race, religious creed, color, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, marital status, and/or disability.
