Black Mental Health

Join educators from Planned Parenthood Los Angeles as they discuss Black mental health. Through this workshop, we’ll explore some of the socioecological factors impacting the mental health of Black people. This workshop will also address the impact of stigma, as well as provide ideas for self and community care.

Student Hip Hop Trivia

An interactive game where participants answer questions about the history, culture, music, and influence of hip hop. It combines knowledge, competition, and celebration of one of the most influential cultural movements in the world.
Lunch is available for the first 40 students.

More than her Death: Reclaiming Breonna Taylor’s Life Through Wikipedia

Many may know the story of Breonna Taylor, a medical worker, who was killed after officers forcibly entered her home as part of a drug operation against her ex-boyfriend, who was not in the home. But there is more to her life than the story of her death. Dr. La’Tonya Reese Miles has created a Wikipedia page on her life and will also share about the need for more Black Wikipedia page authors.

This celebration is a time to reflect on the past, uplift the present, and invest in the future. Through culture and community, we recognize the power of Black excellence and the ongoing contributions that impact our campus and beyond. Lunch will be provided immediately after the ceremony in SSC 391/Staff Breakroom.
