Many of the new textbooks used by the math department come with an access code (for
online homework) that gives the user the right to use online supplementary material.
For some instructors usage of this material is optional, for others it is mandatory.
Many textbooks carried at the SMC bookstore are bundled to include the textbook and
online access code. This bundling significantly reduces the price if an instructor requires both the text
and the access code. Please carefully review the requirements listed in the schedule of classes or in
the bookstore. Email your future instructor before purchasing a used textbook in case
you need an access code, in which case purchasing a package from the bookstore may
be your cheapest solution. If your instructor does not require the access code you
can still use the access code to do online homework for most classes by enrolling
in a generic version (see course IDs below).
Class keys or Course ID
If your teacher is not using the online homework but you would like to, you can enroll
in the courses below using the "class key" or "Course ID" provided for most of the
courses offered. Note that some courses do not have an online component at SMC at
this time. If your teacher is using online homework, you will most likely be accessing
the homework through your CANVAS account
NOTE: a "generic class key" - allows you to enter a generic class and utilize online
eBook, practice problems, videos, and sample tests. For Math 81, 84 and 31 it allows
you to complete your supplementary instructional hours (arranged hours). Your teacher
will not have access to your work in the generic courses.
ARRANGED HOURS COURSES are Math 31, 81 and 84.
