Getting Ready for Your Interview

Responding to Behavioral and Situational Interview Questions Using the STAR Method

What is the STAR Method?

The STAR method is a technique you can use during an interview when asked behavioral and situational questions ("tell me about a time when" or "describe a situation where"). These types of questions help employers determine whether you are right fit for a job. STAR stands for: situation, task, action and result. This method will help you showcase your skills and how you fit the needs of an organization in a compelling and easy way to understand way, without rambling. Using the STAR method, you will be able to fully address an employer's question in a clear and concise manner, while demonstrating how you were able to overcome a previous challenge
