Los Angeles Metro is providing some free and reduced fare options for victims of the Los Angeles area fires.


Wombi E-Bikes
If you know someone who lost their home and vehicle in the LA fires and could benefit from having a Wombi e-bike subscription to get them around—free for a few months—Wombi would love to help.

To ensure they’ll get the most out of a Wombi e-bike, affected applicants should:

  1. Ensure they are staying within Wombi's LA service area.
  2. Should have a safe place to store the bike in their temporary housing.

Financial

Wildfire Relief Funds
The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity and LA City have two grants available:

  • Direct cash assistance grants to workers who lost employment or income due to the wildfires.
  • Direct cash assistance grants ranging from $2,000 to $25,000 for businesses and nonprofits that experienced structural damage, equipment/inventory loss, or revenue loss.

California Fire Foundation - Disaster Relief Assistance
The Foundation provides immediate financial support to victims through $250 SAVE gift cards distributed by firefighters on the scene.


California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund
This fund supports intermediate and long-term recovery efforts for communities affected by wildfires, focusing on rebuilding and restoring the lives of California’s most affected and underserved populations

Preparedness/Planning

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
FEMA provides information to help individuals prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters in California, including disaster recovery centers and flood maps. Applications must be submitted through DisasterAssistance.gov to receive aid and reimbursement.

Recovery/Relief

California Fire Foundation - Wildfire & Disaster Relief Programs
They offer various programs to support survivors, firefighters, and communities affected by natural disasters.


Disaster Unemployment Assistance
In response to the wildfires and windstorms, federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is now available for workers and self-employed individuals who do not qualify for regular unemployment benefits. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) determined that residents in Los Angeles County who lost work or self-employment as a direct result of the disaster, may now apply for DUA benefits no later than Monday, March 10. Offering Support

The Santa Monica Community College Disaster Support Fund has been established to support SMC students, faculty, and staff who have been impacted by the fires across Los Angeles County. This fund will help provide temporary housing, food, water, clothing, transportation, medical supplies, school materials, and emergency funding to support immediate needs.
