Counseling- Stellic Care
Stellic Care is SMC's new Early Alert system to support student success and retention in the classroom.
Counselors can use this retention tool with these key support and retention actions:
- Kudos provide a student with positive reinforcement and encouragement.

Referrals connect students to a service area when they need more support. Referrals can be proactive in nature, like with the Academic and Career Counseling referrals. When one of these is raised, a counselor will contact a student to follow up. Other referrals, such as the Tutoring and Library referrals, are informational in nature. Students will receive an email with information on how to schedule an appointment with helpful resources.
- Notes can be added to a student's profile to share additional information. Instructors can also add notes to initiate a conversation with a student and alert them to focus on a particular area.

How to Access Stellic Care
Counselors can login by going to the link below. You will enter your SMC username and password to login. This is the same username and password you use to log into your SMC email.
Set Up Your Profile
- To update your information, click on the circle with your initials in the top-right corner, and then click on "Settings".
- Add a photo. You can use a photo of yourself, your pet, a landscape scene... anything that you think best represents you! Note: Students and other faculty can see your photo.
Resolve Referrals
Stellic Care makes it easy for the user to document a solution and resolve the referral. Resolving a referral may happen when the student discusses the matter with you and now has a plan to get back on track. Alternatively, referrals can be resolved if you have reached out to a student and they have not responded after multiple attempts.
A referral was raised, what do we do now? Once you are ready to clear the referral, you will need to "Resolve" to indicate that the issue has been taken care of. Please make sure to check with your Department to review individual programs processes for resolving Stellic Care referrals.
