No. We do not provide at-cost/free use of the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage. The rental
fees we charge are the only financial means of funding the on-going operations of
the facility. Discounted rental fees are available to qualified non-profit events.
The majority of available dates for the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage are taken by The
Broad Stage Performance season, special Arts Education programming, and Santa Monica
College performance groups. We are happy to check date availability once we understand
the requirements of your event.
Theater rates are based on an 8-hour per day rental fee of $5,500 ($3,500 for non-profits)
Monday through Sunday. Additional charges are calculated for all labor (house management
and technical staff), production equipment rented on your behalf by the house, and
limited custodial and security services. Only our staff can operate our equipment
and plug into the house. Site supervision is required whenever you are working on
site. Volunteers may be allowed in some areas, which will be discussed as part of

No. We are not part of the non-profit presenting company which selects the events
for the Public Performance Series presented at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage. To

Yes. We require $2,000,000 in general liability insurance for any event that is held
on stage or filmed on location at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage. Certificates must
name the Santa Monica Community College District, its Board of Trustees, officers,
agents, employees and volunteers as additional insured for the activities of the named
insured on the premises. The certificate holder is Santa Monica, College, Attn. Adriene
Smith, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405. A PDF of the certificate must be emailed
to Sullivan_Linda@smc.edu, with the original mailed to the certificate holder address. Liquor liability is
required for all events serving alcohol.
Parking is on a space available basis at a rate of $10/space. Clients are required
to protect student and staff parking when SMC classes are in session. Reserved parking
is available for a limited number of spaces. Directions to the theater.
Yes, alcohol can be poured or sold by a properly licensed caterer, at private events
in which guests are members of the general public and not students of the College.
A certificate of insurance showing $1 million in liquor liability must be provided

A fully executed signed contract and 50% of your total estimated expense are due soon
after your contract meeting. The final balance and insurance documents are due thirty
(30) days prior to the event.
